As the cause and symptoms of one individual’s SIBO is different to another, it is difficult to know the impact of particular food ingredient in SIBO in general. Fibre in some cases is approached with caution for SIBO as “soluble or insoluble” fibres may be digested by gut bacteria and contribute to symptoms.

Hence, we recommend talking to your Health Care Practitioner about this question who understands your specific situation.

What we can tell is that:

  • Kfibre Original and Kfibre Pro products are Monash University Low FODMAP certified.
  • The main active ingredient – virgin sugarcane prebiotic, Kfibre – in our products, is confirmed uniform fermenter in the gut – that means it does not rapidly ferment nor leads to rapid gas formation compared to soluble only isolated prebiotic fibres.
  • The secondary active ingredients – Green kiwifruit powder, golden kiwifruit powder and probiotic spores used are known to assist with bowel regularity and support digestive health.
  • Anyone wishing to consider Kfibre products with SIBO should look to the beginner’s gut serve size (information can be accessed on the pack or website) and keep the serve to a minimum, take advice from your Health Care Practitioner and let your body tell you if Kfibre products suit you and can assist your health needs.

KfibrePro products contains spore-forming probiotics Bacillus coagulans.

These bacterial spores unlike the traditional vegetative bacterial cells, are thermostable that means they can not only survive room temperature but also survive stomach acid during their gastric journey. This allows them to reach intestines safely at the right numbers to do all the good to your gut health. Plus, spore-based probiotics provide bacterial species to your gut microbial diversity we rarely consume from our standard diets.

These are not live bacteria however will germinate once inside your gut and survive the stomach acid more effectively getting you the intended serve of probiotic bacteria.

Certain probiotic bacteria like Bacillus are hardy, spore-forming bacteria that act as vegetative bacteria when conditions are optimal for growth but under extreme conditions, can also form dormant spores to retain their viability. Think of them like plant seeds – they remain dormant and won’t grow until the right temperature, moisture and food sources are present.

Unlike, spore probiotics, traditional probiotic bacteria like Lactobacillus and Bifidobacteria are in their living vegetative states. This means they require specific environments – like refrigeration, to remain viable. Often found in fermented dairy products these strains of bacteria typically cannot be used in products are shelf-stable, frozen, or heated. Also, their cells are not particularly resistant to high heat and tend to be sensitive to acidic conditions, as found in the stomach and upper digestive tract.

Yes, you can do that. We recommend you continue “Beginner’s Gut serving” if taking 2x products in conjunction to help gradual exposure of your gut to fibre intake and avoid any undesirable effects associated with sudden increase in fibre consumption. Also, do not forget to drink lots of water when taking fibre supplements.

Please refer to product label for more information on the serving sizes of the product. This information can also be found our website. Visit: www.kfibre.com

Ultimately, we would recommend you select the product that addresses your major digestive concern versus taking a serve of everything – that would be too much prebiotic fibre given we have more formulations that will release over time.

KfibreOriginal Gut Health Fibre is a natural, whole of plant complex prebiotic dietary fibre made from virgin sugarcane (with most sucrose removed) for gut health management and microbiome support containing bioactive phytonutrients & antioxidants.

Our chemical-free process preserves the cell wall components and results in a high 87% content of total dietary fibre with prebiotic benefits. Such fibre contains both soluble and insoluble prebiotic benefits in addition to retaining sugarcanes natural micronutrients and polyphenols.

Kfibre Original Gut Health Fibre is for Everyone seeking a change to :

  • Support maintenance of digestive & intestinal health
  • Support digestion
  • Uniform fermentation by gut bacteria
  • Provides healthy phytonutrients of sugarcane without all the sugar
  • Is the ultimate whole-plant complex prebiotic for gut health and wellness management
  • Ideal for everyday use – versatile to mix with your choice of liquid foods or baked foods
  • Monash Low FODMAP certified & Gluten-free
  • No flavours or additives

The biggest influence you can have on the state of your gut and microbiome health is your diet.

KfibreOriginal is a complex natural fibre, a virgin sugarcane prebiotic. This chemical-free process preserves the cell wall components and results in a high 87% content of total dietary fibre with raw prebiotic effect.

The prebiotics are not digestible by you, but they can be digested and fermented by the bacteria in your gut (your microbiome).

When you consume KfibreÒ, you’re feeding the good fibre digesting bacteria that help run many other functions in the body; including releasing plant phytonutrients, natural anti-inflammatories in the form of synthesised secondary metabolites (Short Chain Fatty Acids) and micronutrients for your body and digestive tract, supporting the optimal balance and the growth of good bacteria which ultimately helps keep bad bacteria from taking over when you get run down.

The virgin sugarcane prebiotic at its most basic level helps to keep digestion moving steadily and sweeps your gut clear and keeps it in the best state to digest and optimise the nutrient absorption of your next meal. Your body will remove its waste in a more efficient and healthy way, and you will notice how good this feels.

Kfibre is uniformly fermented by gut bacteria to produce Short Chain Fatty Acids along the entire gut length (fore and hind-gut) which can support the healthy intestinal.

A 3- gram dose of Kfibre is therefore about the same fibre content of

166-300 g (1-2 serves) of fruit or vegetable.

Short of a mostly vegetarian diet, Kfibre is the best dietary solution to give your body and microbiome the prebiotics and nutrients it needs when you do not have time to eat perfectly.

Virgin Sugarcane Fibre (95% sucrose removed) is the only ingredient in Kfibre Original Gut Health Fibre. Kfibre contains NO added colours, flavours, preservatives, or chemical stimulants.
  • Kfibre Original is not purified or isolated, it is a raw whole of plant prebiotic & insoluble fermentable fibre made from sugarcane.
  • Kfibre retains its natural colour and texture.
  • Kfibre has no chemicals used in its processing, and no added colours, flavours, no preservatives, or stimulants.
  • Kfibre’s processing does not raise the temperature above 40 deg C thereby retaining all of the plants bio actives including Antioxidants.
  • The plant cell wall structure of Kfibre is comparable to other fruit and vegetable cellular material but without the levels of accompanying carbohydrate sugars or lipids that are generally present. Fruits and vegetables typically have 1.0-1.8 % (dry weight/wet weight) of fibre.
  • 3-grams of Kfibre has the same fibre content of 166-300 g of fruit or vegetable.
  • Application of Kfibre therefore allows manipulation of levels of cellular fibre and phytonutrients in the diet independent of any significant change in energy content.
  • Kfibre‘s raw prebiotic is also unique in the market due to the uniform rate of fermentation that limits bloating effects compared to soluble only fibres and continues through to the colon to stimulate the hindgut.
  • Kfibre supports bacteria to synthesize short chain fatty acids (SCFA’s) specifically Butyrate that is the source of energy required by colonic gut cells (bowels) to function properly.
  • Kfibre ferments at a more uniform rate, compared to other fibres supplements, managing bloat, and ensuring your entire gut is supported.

Kfibre will delivers its best benefits when taken as a maintenance product – every day.

Kfibre is a complex prebiotic, it is food for your gut bacteria, particularly the beneficial fibre-digesting bacteria. Your gut bacteria will be best supported when always fed the optimal fuel – prebiotic fibre they love and in return give you the gut health & digestive experience you deserve for your wellbeing!

The only thing better than Kfibre for fibre digestion and gut maintenance is a mostly vegetarian diet.

Prebiotics are fibres that are indigestible to your own body functions but are digestible by the bacteria that live inside you, and when they ferment prebiotics, they release a multitude of micronutrients that you cannot access alone.

Many prebiotics are isolated and purified fibre product.

This sometimes sounds good in marketing speak, but what it really means is that you will be feeding a single food source to the bacteria in your gut. By doing so, you may actually shape the species in a way that reduces diversity or heavily favours particular species, especially since most prebiotics on the market are soluble fibre prebiotics, sometimes fully dissolvable and not at all like the grand array of different soluble and insoluble fibre types and structures that occur in natures grains, fruits and vegetables. This is why you might have had advice to swap between fibre or prebiotic supplements over time; this is so you don’t focus your microbiome in a way that could be negative long term.

Kfibre is a complex and active raw prebiotic. We say that because it contains natural and whole plant dietary fibres with both soluble and insoluble prebiotic benefits. Most importantly, they are not isolated or purified, they are from freshly harvested whole plant sugarcane with the sucrose removed only; this leaves a very broad set of prebiotics and fibres as well as the complimentary organic micronutrients and antioxidant phytonutrients that were part of the plant when it was growing.

The University of Queensland has completed scientific studies demonstrating a key difference; Kfibre is fermented at a more uniform rate compared to other prebiotics, which reduces the comparative gas and bloating risk, and the fermentation of Kfibre continues through the whole gut providing a benefit to the entire digestive tract.

The studies conducted by University of Tasmania has also confirmed the production of beneficial SCFAs at uniform rate and provide anti-inflammatory effects along the entire gut. Kfibre in these studies also confirmed to improve microbial diversity that reduced inflammation of the large intestine.

The descriptor of whole plant “virgin” sugarcane fibre is due to the existing perceptions enjoyed by the food industry promoting “virgin olive oils”. The word “virgin” indicates that the olives have been pressed to extract the oil; no heat or chemicals have been used during the extraction process, and the oil is pure and unrefined. Virgin olive oils contain the highest levels of polyphenols, antioxidants that have been linked with better health.

By way of comparison Kfibre manufacturing takes the entire sugarcane plant into the factory as a starting product, is low heat, no chemical and the product is unrefined other than water diffusion, low temperature drying and mechanical milling, leading to the very same claimed benefits of retained bioactive and phytonutrients as implied by olive oil manufacturers. This speaks to the consumer and allows them to fairly judge a product like Kfibre against a by-product of sugar extraction, highly refined, chemically processed, heat exposed sugarcane bagasse with a significantly differing nutrient profile and fibre digestibility.

Use of “virgin sugarcane fibre” allows the reasonable differentiation from bagasse by-product that should not be a comparison product and consumers should have this information to assist their purchasing and decision making as the two products co-exist in the market.

Excerpt: http://aooa.com.au/quality-standards/olive-oil-grading/

Virgin Olive Oils

Virgin olive oils are obtained directly from the olive fruit solely by mechanical or other physical means under conditions, particularly thermal conditions, that do not lead to alterations in the oil and which have not undergone any treatment other than washing, decantation, centrifugation, and filtration

The bolded text above is a fair and justifiable description of Kfibre processing and is of benefit to a consumer’s awareness to differentiate Kfibre from a by-product of sugar extraction, treated with heat, chemicals, bleaching, enzyme and which would be called a sugarcane “bagasse” product.

The “virgin” processing is critical to phytonutrient profile and the food-health relationship and outcomes.

If you have a diet that’s lacking fibre and micronutrients. If you’ve always had a sensitive stomach and suspect that your gut microbiome is not functioning optimally. If you just don’t feel like your digestion is right. Then you probably don’t have optimal digestion.

When we say “optimal digestion” this comes from the multitude of recommendations to gain a healthier digestive system. These recommendations are generally; eat more fibre, get both insoluble and soluble prebiotic fibre in your diet, incorporate probiotics or feed your own gut bacteria well, and stay hydrated. If you take Kfibre daily, drink plenty of water, you are assisting in delivering these needs.

At a more detailed level, this normalisation rests with the microbiome. All the bacteria in your gut are generally working for you, but if you have a poor diet these species and ratio’s end up in a state that leaves you with symptoms of digestive dysfunction. Kfibre is a soluble and insoluble fibre that feeds the bacteria of the microbiome a complex prebiotic that supports the most advantageous bacteria, the fibre digesters.

When you take Kfibre each day you maintain the levels of these “good guys” to carry you through times when you do not eat an ideal diet, or even mild illness.

When your digestion just runs smoothly, and you do not notice it other than healthy bowel movements, you might say Kfibre has helped to normalise your digestion.

It can be said that the average person struggles to eat an ideal diet with the processed foods and stress of life these days, and the microbiome appears to be most optimal when there is diversity in the bacterial species.

And if you’re truly average, that means you struggle quite a bit to get the best diet; you may be a little overweight and as a result your digestion and microbiome are beginning a path that will eventually result in you noticing digestive symptoms that you didn’t before, and it all gets a little bit harder.

Kfibre’s best use is a daily maintenance product rather than just reactive to issues. Put simply, your digestion will not be in its best state, and when you do not eat ideally or when illness strikes, the chance of getting through those times more easily is improved.

Kfibre helps maintain a diverse microbiome, with good fibre digesting bacteria, which also means more production of beneficial anti-inflammatory SCFAs and constant release of micronutrients for the digestive tract.

The average person will feel the difference when they are more regular, have less bloating, more tolerance to a bad diet day, and probably help with weight maintenance by keeping you fuller for longer.

Everyone will adjust differently to a change in diet, especially to increases in dietary fibre intake.

As Kfibre is digested by gut bacteria, the amounts of fibre and existing fibre digesting bacteria in your body are a significant determinant of the initial experience.

What we can tell you is that:

  • Starting Kfibre on the “Beginners’ Gut” serve size will allow your body to adjust to the increase in fibre as your gut bacteria shift the general population – since you have changed your diet. If you had a high fibre diet normally, you may transition without any noticeable adjustment and experience only positive side effects.
  • However, if you are beginning from a low to medium fibre diet, there will likely be altered bowel movements as your body adjusts to the extra fibre over a few days to a week. That is why the “Beginners Gut” is suggested and you increase the serve size over 2-4 weeks to ease your body into an optimal fibre intake.
  • When increasing fibre intake, it is always recommended to increase water intake to keep things flowing.
  • Your bowel movement may be more often or less often, however once you have adjusted you should find your digestive experience to be predictable and “regular”, and the other benefits of a powerful prebiotic diet will become clear.

Kfibre has undergone University studies over the last 5 years.

The University of Tasmania has completed animal model studies that confirm the prebiotic function and the natural anti-inflammatory properties of Kfibre through the synthesis of Short Chain Fatty Acids. Two studies have been published that support excellent efficacy of Virgin Sugarcane fibre – Kfibre, in ameliorating gut inflammation. The studies essentially demonstrate the positive impact on the microbiome, in terms of increasing microbial diversity and supporting the beneficial bacteria and show reductions in gut inflammation due to digestive changes as a result of prebiotic fermentation.

The University of Queensland has completed fermentation trials that demonstrate Kfibre is fermented at a more uniform rate compared to the industry standard benchmark prebiotic. What this means is that instead of being rapidly digested by bacteria in the gut, and micronutrients only delivered to the upper sections of the gut along with increased gas bloating risks, Kfibre is fermented at a controlled rate that continues along the entire digestive tract effectively until waste passes out.

The outcome of this is that good bacteria are fed for the entirety of digestion, there is much lower gas bloating risk and micronutrients are delivered to a greater proportion of your gut.

The outcomes of these research studies on Kfibre confirmed positive influence on digestion, support healthy bowel movements and support the good bacteria in our gut that can influence our digestive and overall health and wellbeing.

There are many other studies beyond prebiotic function for Kfibre. We make only dietary support claims for Kfibre; however, we have completed a clinical pilot trial to demonstrate the function of Kfibre and dietary indigestion and acid reflux. There are many anecdotal testimonials of reduced dietary indigestion and acid reflux while using Kfibre and this trial has put these reports to the test and confirmed via an independent gastrointestinal clinic, overseen by a University of Tasmania research team. The research has been peer reviewed and published in the journal “Nutrients” and can be found here:

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7353237/

In this pilot-study, consumption of Kfibre for 3 weeks showed marked reduction in Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) symptoms in medically diagnosed GERD patients. At the end of 3 weeks of the trial, there were clear reduction in symptoms for heartburn, regurgitation, and total symptoms scores in group that consumed Kfibre versus the group that consumed placebo cellulose.

Kfibre is also preparing for a larger scope trial that focuses on the microbiome level gut anti-inflammatory function, which will record a multitude of biomarkers to assist in the mechanism explanations of the outcomes, as well as confirm the anecdotal reports observed in animal trials.

A function of this trial will also monitor the weight loss outcomes already recorded in a 90-patient human study whereby subjects on Kfibre lost between 57-70% more weight in a diet study than those not on Kfibre. This study will aim to replicate those results and provide information on the mechanisms going forward.

Please see our full research summary, this is not intended for consumers but aimed at a person of knowledge that can assess the value in context:

It is not possible to know the impact of such a broad question, therefore medical conditions are always a question to take to your health care practitioner.

What we can tell you is that:

  • KfibreÒ is completely natural and a high-quality complex prebiotic.
  • KfibreÒ is Monash University Low FODMAP certified
  • There are no chemicals used in its production only water and mechanical pressures.
  • No additives, no flavors, no chemical stimulants.
  • KfibreÒ has Safe Quality Food (SQF) & Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) accreditation.
  • It is non-gelling, therefore does not interfere with the absorption of vitamins or medications.
  • KfibreÒ is a food product, low calorie, and many general digestive experiences may see digestive benefits.

The carbohydrate value listed on the pack is overwhelmingly indigestible fibre which is not available to the body for conversion to blood glucose.

This is simply the nature of reporting carbohydrate levels for dietary fibres on nutritional packs, hence why sugars were separated for specific listing.

Please note that bag of 100g actually contains 66 serves and the more important value for people managing BGLS & people living with diabetes is the available sugar which is also listed in the nutritional panel.

The per serve sugar content is only 0.1g grams and would have a negligible effect on the BGLs of a person living with diabetes or a person with normal blood glucose function. In fact, studies support Kfibre actually lowering post prandial BGLs due to several metabolic factors and this has been accepted by FSANZ as a food health link for sugarcane fibre (sucrose reduced) – this is Kfibre.

In terms of cooking, it’s up to the individual what they choose to eat and what to bake with Kfibre; again the vast majority of calories in Kfibre are not available for conversion to blood glucose, unlike wheat and sugar, therefore they are an excellent choice to substitute into any baked goods, cakes included. It will lower the overall calorie content compared to the original cake recipe and contribute to the maintenance of blood glucose levels & satiety.

Kfibre makes no treatment claims whatsoever in regard to IBS, however we have many reports of benefits to those experiencing digestive issues or struggle with FODMAP foods.

  • Kfibre is a powerful prebiotic which contains cellulose, hemicellulose, lignin and pectin plus policosanols and antioxidants.
  • Kfibre is Monash University low FODMAP certified
  • HFS has university trial showing that Kfibre ferments SCFA’s the full length of the Colon.
  • HFS works with Low FODMAP dietitians including Joanna Baker from Everyday Nutrition
  • Kfibre is not a silver bullet it can be an assist and bring some confidence back to your digestion.
More information on the research pages https://kfibre.com/research/

Thanks for your question. FODMAP diets while in the exclusion stage have issues around eating enough complex dietary fibres, this can result in the disturbances and alterations in the microbiome composition and functions thus sometimes creating issues outside of IBS.

KfibreOriginal Gut Health Fibre is a complex Prebiotic dietary fibre. 1 teaspoon (1.5g) equals 80-150g of whole fruit or vegetables (2-4 servings).

The plant cell wall structure of KfibreÒ is highly related to other fruit and vegetable cellular material but without the levels of accompanying carbohydrate sugars or lipids that are present in most. Unlike the isolated dietary fibres that tend to get rapidly fermented in the upper gut and result in GI symptoms, the biochemical complexity of Virgin Sugarcane Kfibre allows it to be uniformly fermented along the large intestine thus reducing the GI symptoms.

One serve Kfibre Original is low in FODMAPs and can assist with following the Monash University Low FODMAP DietTM. A strict low FODMAP diet should only be commenced under the supervision of a healthcare professional. Monash University has assessed this product as being low in FODMAPs only.

Low FODMAP diet followers should combine this product with low FODMAP ingredients only, which can be found in the Monash University FODMAP Diet App: https://www.monashfodmap.com/ibs-central/i-have-ibs/get-the-app/

Food sensitivities can result in very broad ranges of symptoms and gut issues and sometime people fall into this category when there is no other defined disorder for a dysfunctional gut. It can only be repeated that Kfibre does not directly address IBS or any other condition/disease, but what it can do is provide some level of support due to digestive and microbiome changes.

These changes can provide a reduction in bloating due to the uniform rate of fermentation of the prebiotic, and by improving the stomach emptying rate. The microbiome is a powerful force in the body and normalisation of the bacterial populations and ratios can certainly result in big changes, and the release of phytonutrients and micronutrients can help make sure your gut isn’t missing out on anything it normally struggles to absorb.

Kfibre has good evidence and effect in animal models of natural anti-inflammatories from SCFAs; even a small amount change to your gut’s inflammation state could mean a big change to how you feel. These studies are ongoing so keep your eye on the science section.

For many digestive issues and dietary attempts at management, the best answer is to try Kfibre and see how it works for you.

Thank you for your question and interest in Kfibre.

Regards to your query on suitability of Kfibre on a low histamine diet, Kfibre has no known allergens.

While sugar consumption is linked with histamine intolerance and mast cell activation, from our knowledge, cane sugar isn’t directly high or low in histamine so as to say but, the spike in blood sugar levels can raise body’s overall histamine levels, as a response to the inflammation. The usual advice there is to control blood sugar levels to control/manage the histamine intolerance.

With Kfibre carrying < 0.1g sugar per serve, it shouldn’t normally affect blood glucose levels. But we do not have any data/reports to confirm if Kfibre could be problematic for people with histamine intolerance.

It will be best placed with your health care practitioner for decision on Kfibre recommendation in this circumstance as they would have more clearer picture of the medical history of the patient and given their expertise and qualification.

SIBO – Small Intestinal Bowel Overgrowth

It is not possible to know the impact of such a broad question as the cause of one individuals SIBO is different to another. Fiber in some cases is approached with caution for SIBO as “soluble or insoluble” fibres may be digested by gut bacteria and contribute to symptoms.

Therefore, medical conditions are always a question to take to your health care practitioner (HCP) who understands your specific situation. For the individual the answer cannot be known without attempting a small daily serve trial.

What we can tell you is that:

  • Kfibre is a confirmed uniform fermenter in the gut. It is not rapidly fermented, nor does it lead to rapid gas formation compared to “soluble only isolated prebiotic fibres.
  • Anyone wishing to consider Kfibre and SIBO should look to the beginner’s gut table on the pack or website and keep the serve to a minimum, take advice from your HCP and let your body tell you if Kfibre is a fibre/prebiotic you can enjoy.

We have all experienced some form of bloating or dietary indigestion at some point. The familiar pressure and sensation in the stomach and chest. When it comes to directly answering question on Acid Reflux, we can’t really address this as a food product as it may represent a medical conditions or disease.

As the cause and symptoms of one individual’s Acid Reflux / heartburn is different to another, it is difficult to know the impact of particular food ingredient on this condition in general.

  • Anyone wishing to consider Kfibre products with for Dietary Indigestion & Bloating may consider :

KfibrePro Dietary Indigestion & Bloating

  • It is a scientifically & IBS dietitian formulated prebiotic & probiotic blend to help ease digestive discomfort including Indigestion, bloating and gas.

  • When used as a daily maintenance support, KfibrePro promotes microbiome changes that support normalisation of digestion & bloating.

Yes, Kfibre is Gluten free.

Your own judgment and advice from a health care practitioner is always valuable when considering a change to your diet.

What we can tell you is that:

  • Kfibre is gluten free and Monash University Low FODMAP certified.
  • Kfibre is completely natural and a high-quality complex prebiotic.
  • There are no chemicals used in its production only water and mechanical pressures.
  • No additives, no flavors, no stimulants.
  • Kfibre has Safe Quality Food (SQF) & Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) accreditation.
  • It is non-gelling, therefore does not interfere with the absorption of vitamins or medications.
  • Kfibre is a food product, low calorie, and many general digestive experiences may see benefits with prebiotics such as Kfibre compared to rapid fermenting soluble only fibre’s.

It is not possible to know the impact of such a broad question as the cause of one individual’s dietary discomfort is different to another. A healthcare practitioner can tell you if a fibre supplement is recommended or not for your medications.

What we can tell you is that:

  • Kfibre is non-gelling, therefore does not have the same cautions regarding interference with medication absorption compared to isolated and soluble only fibres.
  • Kfibre is a food product, low calorie, and many general digestive experiences may see benefits with prebiotics such as Kfibre compared to rapid fermenting soluble only fibres.
  • Kfibre is used to assist regularity therefore it may provide a benefit to digestive emptying, and the prebiotics promote good fibre digesting bacteria.
  • Reflux have many causes however the medications (PPI’s, H blockers) do not have any interactions with a food product such as Kfibre.

HFS now has Kfibre Pro range of products that combine the Power of Kfibre with secondary prebiotic and probiotic that are scientifically curated to support focussed gut health needs.

  • Kfibre is non-gelling, therefore does not have the same cautions regarding interference with medication absorption compared to isolated and soluble only fibres.
  • Kfibre is a food product, low calorie, and many general digestive experiences may see benefits with high true roughage fibre diets such as Kfibre compared to rapid fermenting soluble only fibres.
Yes.

  • Kfibre is completely natural and a high quality complex prebiotic.
  • Kfibre is a food product, low calorie, and many digestive issues associated with pregnancy may see benefits with high true roughage fibre diets such as Kfibre compared to rapid fermenting soluble only fibre’s.

Kfibre is already being used in health powders designed to help with the dietary experience of pregnancy, designed & created by health care professionals with a preference for natural products.

Studies have shown increasing your intake of complex functional and prebiotic fibres can improve your weight maintenance efforts as part of a healthy diet and exercise routine. By passing through the body quickly, reducing the strain on your digestive system and not raising blood glucose levels – Kfibre is a low-calorie weight loss supplement that keeps you feeling fuller for longer.

Kfibre has completed a 90 subject weight loss study that demonstrates significantly improved outcomes for a weight loss program that included Kfibre compared to another fibre.

On an 8-week program the weight loss recorded for females in the control group was 5.7 kgs, and for the Kfibre group it was 10.06kg.

This represented a 76% increase in weight loss and exceeded the performance of many other options for obesity weight loss. Males demonstrated a 56% improvement in weight loss with Kfibre compared to the control fibre.

The five pillars of Kfibre’s weight loss benefits are:

  1. Kfibre contains 34 % of the Adequate Daily Intake levels of the essential micronutrient Chromium, (analytical result Symbio Laboratories), which is known to enhance the action of insulin. Uncontrolled glucose levels in the body, which is generally seen in conjunction with carbohydrate heavy diets can lead to type II diabetes and obesity. By enhancing the action of insulin with bioavailable chromium the body will more efficiently process glucose and affect feelings of satiety.
  2. Through recent analytical results from Southern Cross University, Kfibre has confirmed levels of Tricin which is tied to a-amylase inhibition, a key enzyme involved in the breakdown of carbohydrates in food. This inhibition can effectively lower the glycaemic index (GI) of any carbohydrate containing meal. Peer reviewed research proposes that a-amylase inhibitors display potential therapeutic uses for managing obesity, diabetes, and inflammatory conditions.
  3. Satiety contribution to feeling fuller longer.

Microbiome modulation through Kfibre’s prebiotic ability to be fermented by good bacteria producing SCFA’s to feed and balance the Microbiota this displaces the bad bacteria looking for sugars and fats and prevents cravings from the gut to the brain via the vagus nerve.

There is a great deal of study on probiotics and yet still science is trying to extract their best value. In terms of; should probiotics and prebiotics be taken together; the answer is a simple yes, you can even buy some already in this format called “synbiotics”.

Kfibre Pro products are packed with the power of prebiotic and probiotics – synbiotics for your gut health needs. These advanced synbiotic formulations combine the prebiotic power of KfibreÒ with the latest research in microbiome & probiotic science.

Prebiotics are the food source for probiotics, so it only makes sense that you provide any probiotic that you take the best chance at growing and having a benefit.

Prebiotics help the ingested probiotic to settle and support its beneficial activity the gut thus enhancing its “probiotic potential” for health benefits.

Kfibre has been scientifically trialled for its anti-inflammatory of secondary metabolite properties as both Kfibre alone, and with a probiotic. The results were clear for a given property that a probiotic is linked to, such as anti-inflammation, Kfibre was able to amplify the effect and improve the anti-inflammatory effects. Basically, Kfibre supported the growth and function of the probiotic throughout the bowel and it led to an easily measurable and significantly improved result. In fact, the results were better than for Kfibre or the probiotic provided alone.

Kfibre has a patent at the PCT stage (“Preparation for the treatment of inflammatory bowel disease using whole plant fibre extract from sugarcane”) based on the dual or synergistic use of probiotics & Kfibre and has a partner currently developing an all in one product for specific health benefits, we’ll let you know when it’s ready.

Other than Kfibre, the remaining prebiotics should come from your normal diet. Kfibre will support and assist the microbiome to ensure any other fibrous foods you eat have an army of fibre digesting bacteria at the ready to keep your digestion moving well and releasing all the micronutrients possible.

A nutritionist or dietician can help you discover an optimal diet for you especially if you have food sensitivities or live with any chronic conditions.

You could also try our Kfibre Pro product range that packs the prebiotic power of KfibreÒ  and secondary prebiotic with the latest research in microbiome & probiotic science.

  • The prebiotic fibre in Kfibre is fermented at a more uniform and sustained rate in the body compared to other fibres.
  • This results in less gas production and bloating effects and the SCFAs are available to more of the hind gut as a result.
  • We have a detailed comparison if you’re interested – Fibre Comparison

  • Kfibre naturally contains Chromium, Selenium, Zinc, Manganese, Iron, Tricin, and Policosanols as trace elements. Not all of these are reportable values for benefits.
  • Kfibre also contains high amounts of plant silica that has been linked to assisting bone density, hair and nails.

Screenshot 1

  • Kfibre is pesticide residue & food allergen free.

The story starts in the field before harvest. HFS has a sampling process before and during harvesting where sugarcane is sent away to a third-party NATA accredited lab for testing of agricultural residues; if the samples do not come back

HFS can track and trace from the farm to the consumer, recorded to batch and lot CoA’s.

Every batch is tested for allergens and the factory is constantly monitored with allergen swaps and any incoming goods. Sugarcane itself has none of the listed food allergens and nothing enters the factory other than sugarcane and water, however the quality manual and manufacturing standard operating procedure is always test and test more.

Independent NATA labs confirms no pesticides as “below the Level of Report” (LOR) or nil detection as per the requirements of Food Standards Australia New Zealand.

Screenshot 4 1

Kfibre is certified non-GMO and Kfibre is tested in the field before and during harvest and after processing for pesticides Kfibre Spec is <LOR or Nil-detection of agricultural residues including all pesticides and herbicides.

HFS has several University Research partners and Expert Advisors:

  • University of Tasmania
  • University of QLD
  • Southern Cross University
  • Symbio Laboratories
  • Nutritionist Marisa Pilla
  • IBS expert dietitian Joanna Baker (APD | RN)

Kfibre Original is now in new rigid packaging that retains an optimal seal from the first open to the last scoop. We think you’ll enjoy the improvement and easier use.

Kfibre Pro has clinically tested ingredients (secondary PREBIOTIC & PROBIOTIC) that all come with their own health claims and that means significant research & development costs have been spent for the trials, the regulatory submissions, and that adds to the costs of making the products. We’ve completed a review of the competition and we’re happy to say our retail costs are right on the average even though we have invested so much into R&D.

HFS has exciting plans to release more products that are researched and supported by science and that means further investment into R&D to create them and keep them affordable.

Lastly, a great benefit of the Kfibre range is the flavours, we’ve worked hard to keep it natural, and we think you’ll agree these are refreshing drinks for any time of the day.

Kfibre is not one of the FOS’s GOS’s or any of the other Isolated Purified Oligosaccharide products that is one of the reasons we are low FODMAP accredited (Monash FODMAP certified).

Mother nature just decided that sugarcane would somehow be the best whole of plant based Dietary Fibre and added in a bunch of goodies that no other plant appears to have as a standalone product.

FOS GOS and all of the rest are highly processed extracts and I would not recommend them for anyone that has IBS or underlying gut issues as you will get rapid fermentation at the beginning of the Colon and then nothing at the end plus no roughage and Antioxidants and minerals. Inulin-FOS a good explanation.

Specific fibers known as prebiotics can improve sleep and boost stress resilience by influencing gut bacteria and the potent biologically active molecules, or metabolites, they produce, new University of Colorado Boulder research shows.

The research could ultimately lead to new approaches to treating sleep problems. Kfibre is a complex dietary fibre, feeding a variety of good bacteria, which in turn feed other good bacteria and so on.

This study reveals that the Kfibre – Virgin Sugarcane Prebiotic was fermented at a more uniform rate and produced much higher proportions of butyric acid compared to the standard (Arabinoxylan), which is associated with reduced inflammation, weight loss, and is noted as a promising therapy for IBD.

When compared with barley, rye, and wheat, Kfibre produced much higher proportions of butyric acid (Comino, Williams, & Gidley, 2018). source: published research by the University of Queensland on Kfibre fermentability in the International Journal of Food Science and Technology.

Thank you for your question am always happy to answer this one as it demonstrates how good Kfibre really is when it comes to safety.

Certified organic is where after 3 years of not using artificial agricultural additives and being audited every year for 3 years and having no residues you are then accredited organic, after your accreditation you are then allowed to grow and distribute organic certified product, if after you have plant you have a contamination issue through, overspray, cross contamination or spillage you have no idea that you are selling contaminated products until the next audit and if the audit sample misses the contamination you will continue to have contaminated product, Kfibre has nothing against Organic but feel that once a year auditing is way too little. as well there is no test for organic if you have two products side by side unless one has a residue issue you are 100% reliant on the organic audit once annually.

  • Kfibre sources Cane from cane farmers who are shareholders in the company, each farmer has to be part of the great Barrier reef best farming practices, each farmer has to allow Kfibre to review its sprays and fertilizers.
  • Kfibre ensures that there is sufficient time from last fertilizers and sprays that all residues are gone, and we test in the field three time with five sample before and during harvest by a NATA accredited independent laboratory as well as testing samples after production.
  • The criteria for Kfibre is <LOR or nil detection of Agricultural residues including Pesticides, herbicides and fertilizers, ALL residues
  • Kfibre has “SQF” Safe Quality Foods Audits and is part of the “GFSI” Global foods Safety Initiate accreditation which is the Gold standard for food processing standard and track and trace.
  • Kfibre can trace your 100g tub of Kfibre Original or Kfibre Pro from your table all the way back through the store, factory and the harvest to the exact field that the sugar cane was harvested.
  • Kfibre has never failed a residues test and with its bulk customers globally who buy pallets of 10kg bags has never failed a test from a customer.

When we started this journey, we realised that we would be responsible for people’s health, and we wanted to make sure that the very best safety initiate was in place.
